Pep Talk

The odds of a crocodile attacking me are one in 24 million.

(Breathe in)

I’m more likely to be struck by lightening, get run over by a car, or be hit by an asteroid than be attacked by a crocodile.

(Breathe out)

Most often when people are attacked-in fact 84% of the time-the victims are male.

(Breathe in)

And even if a crocodile came at me, I could easily outrun it.

(Breathe out)

But I’m not getting out of the boat.  Nope.  I’m staying in the boat where I will be perfectly safe.  In fact, it would be pretty incredible to see a crocodile-from the safety of the boat.

(Breathe in)

I’m brave!

(Breathe out)

I’m brave!

(Breathe in)

I’m so brave!

(Breathe out)

(See crocodile.  Hyperventilate)

A picture really is worth a thousand words!  Note my daughter Amy’s Spanish teacher, in the lower right hand corner of this picture.  She is deathly afraid of alligators and crocodiles-and this was her reaction to seeing a crocodile on a school trip to Costa Rica last week. 3. What an original and creative use the prompt. You really had me going as to whether or not she was actually safe. Very fun piece.

  5. Marvelous fun, Valerie! I, too, would stay sitting solidly in the boat.

  8. Ooo I am totally with you on this one .. we were at the Phoenix zoo .. on a path through a jungley looking area .. and I look over and see maybe 8 of the big guys laying there like 8 - 10 feet away .. and the wall separating us is no more than 1 foot off the ground .. I am having a panic attack loudly asking who in the world thinks this is safe .. children and old people go to the zoo and my heart is racing.. my dear mum lets me rant a bit and is hysterically laughing .. the crocs were bronze sculptures that sure enough looked very very real.. the real guys were just up the path and over the bridge of the moat they were stationed at... my hair still stand on end thinking about it .. ha ha....

  9. I don't do lizard, alligators or crocodiles. I think it has something to do with that fact that they lunge! Yikes.

Ok, your story about your sister brought back a memory of my sister (only have the one) donating ALL of my High School memorabilia to a thrift store when I was at a semester at BYU and she was done with college and awaiting her time to student teach and living back at home. She donated my choir dresses (3), my pep club uniforms (2), and my cheer-leading uniforms (4) plus my yearbooks! (2) I happened to have one with me. It is the only yearbook I still own. Why? Why did she think that was ok? They had been donated for a month when she told me. HUH? I was 30 miles away and she decides to just haul my stuff off. I had just graduated like 6 month earlier. Would it have occurred to her to call me first and 'BOUNCE' the idea off of me? NO, just hauled it off and I went to the story to retrieve it all - ALL GONE! ALL!

I think my story trumps yours, my dear. What do you think? hahahahaha. To this day when I remind her of it she just laughs and says "I thought I was doing you a favor?" Get this: She still has all of her memorabilia from High School!
