Goodnight, Honey Bee

Sleepy little honey bees

bring flower kisses to

sweeten sleepy head dreams-

then drift home to cozy hives,

where tiny honey bee beds,

and tiny honey bee pillows

are waiting.

My wish is that this bedtime story makes you feel warm and fuzzy.  Amy, my own little honey bee, is seventeen now, and how I miss those bedtime story days.

  1. Oh, you just broke my heart and mended it at the same time. Really lovely, and makes me want to go snuggle the 15 year old with his ear buds in ;)

  2. My baby just turned 20, I can empathize. I miss those nights when I would read bedtime stories to my kids.

  3. This bedtime story might have given me nightmares. I am terrified of bees--like "leave-my-kids-and-run-down-the street-screaming" terrified.

But then I read the part about your not-so-little honey bee, and I'm warm and fuzzy again. :)

This is beautiful (in spite of the bees). :)

    1. Ivy, I'm that way with yellow jackets and wasps! Bees I don't mind so much any more. I work in my garden alongside them and they ignore me while they go about their bee business;)

I'm so glad this left you warm and fuzzy in the end, and I'm so glad you stopped by to read it too! :)

  4. These zzzz zzzz are heading my way soon but wanted to wish you a grand weekend. Your daughter will always be yours whether she is under your roof or not. If she is in a college dorm or not. If she in her home with her child or not. She'll always be yours and your love with always be there. Never fret, never worry ...always love.

    1. Renae, Thank you for this:) It helps take the sting away, a little bit! xx

(After I wrote that I had to laugh a little too-sting is fitting, no?) :)

  5. I had to laugh at Ivy's comment...I've embarrassed myself many times when a bee gets too close to me :)

This was a sweet story. You part at the end about your daughter made me a little sad because my kiddos are growing up, too. Bedtime stories are no longer part of a routine.

    1. Thanks Janna! I actually got stung this summer-on my ankle. It was just a little sting, because it was a very tiny bee. Still-it hurt!

Honey bees are making a comeback in my garden-I've actually planted things they like-I'm trying to do my part to save them because they seem to be disappearing. Kind of like bedtime stories:)

  17. A delightful bedtime story. I wish I had someone to read it to. Like you, my girls are way too big -- one is thirty-five and the other is thirty-one. At this point, no grand-kids.

Ah, the problem is solved. My cat just wandered in my office and I read it her. She climbed on her favorite chair, curled up and is now sleeping peacefully. Success for the cat and for Valerie in answering the Trifecta challenge:~)
